I have been Editor of the Upper Chine Old Girls' Association Newsletter for the last 8 years, which produces one publication annually. The magazine is a good way of old pupils from the school to remember and keep in touch with their contemporaries. We get contributions from 'girls' who left school in 1930 spanning generations through to the present day. My work as Editor involves formatting the magazine, production of advertisements and scanning of photographs to enhance stories from old pupils of the school; and generally 'pulling it together' before taking to the printers in camera ready format. To increase our 1,000 membership spread all over the world, I have set up an Upper Chine Web site which is evolving through interest generated by the members. Already a spate of Australian 'lost contacts' have got in touch, demonstrating how powerful the internet can be. I have recently designed a graphic to be used on mugs, updating the old image, and restoring it to a style more in keeping with the original badges we used to wear. I have also produced hand painted silver cards and stained glass window pictures. If you would like to order something, please email me at : alithom@alitproductions.co.uk |
